Dune, The Graphic Novel Book 2: Muad'dib by Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson, Raul Allen, and Patricia Martin

Dune, The Graphic Novel Book 2: Muad'dib by Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson, Raul Allen, and Patricia Martin -163 pages

This is the second of three books in the graphic novel adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert. I am enjoying reading through it so far. Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides and his journey on Arrakis after his father, Duke Leto Atreides, is assassinated. Paul and his mother, Lady Jessica, go on the run from the Harkonnens who assassinated the Duke. They run into the Fremen and others. I've seen the movie Dune: Part One and am eagerly anticipating Dune: Part Two coming later this year. I liked this one and rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Robin Wasserman

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, and Robin Wasserman -- 655 pages

This is another collection of short stories set in the Shadowhunters world.  These all center around the Shadowhunter Academy and the history of the Shadowhunters world.  This is probably my least favorite of the Shadowhunters short story collections.  Almost all of the stories are framed as lessons told to the students.  They also feature more of the secondary characters than the other collections.  Still, I would recommend it to fans of the series.

Death of a Traitor by M.C. Beaton and R.W. Green

Death of a Traitor by M.C. Beaton & R.W. Green-321 pages
#35 in the Hamish Macbeth series.  Sergeant Hamish Macbeth investigates the disappearance of a local woman, Kate, who is alienated more than one of her neighbors after only living in the quaint village of Lochdubh for a year.  Sergeant Macbeth soon finds that she was much more than she seemed.  He quickly finds that she disappeared and left in her wake a trail deceit and finds himself on the hunt for a treacherous murderer.  It was ok, a little too predictable for me.

Where Are The Children Now? by Mary Higgins Clark and Alifair Burke

Where Are The Children Now? by Mary Higgins Clark & Alifair Burke-275 pages

A whole new generation and yet the same recurring nightmare.  Melissa who was one of the children who had been abducted nearly forty years ago has recently married a man whose first wife suspiciously died leaving him with their young daughter Riley.  While in Melissa's care, Riley goes missing.  Drawing on their own abduction, Melissa and Mike race to find Riley to save her from the trauma they still struggle with.  It was ok.  Not up to par with the books that Mary Higgins Clark would put out.  She will be missed.

The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Maureen Johnson

The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Maureen Johnson -- 507 pages

This is a collection of short stories set in the Shadowhunters world.  They all focus on the warlock character Magnus Bane.  He is one of my favorite characters within that world and I really enjoyed reading these stories featuring his exploits.  A definite must read for fans of the series.

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Kelly Link & Robin Wasserman

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Kelly Link & Robin Wasserman -- 614 pages

This is a collection of short stories within the Shadowhunter world.  They all revolve around the Shadow Market and the search for the lost Herondale.  I enjoyed these stories that fleshed out the Shadowhunter world.  Fans of the series should definitely read this book.

Star Wars: The High Republic Phase II, Vol. 1: Balance of the Force by Cavan Scott, Ario Anindito

Star Wars: The High Republic Phase II, Vol. 1: Balance of the Force by Cavan Scott, Ario Anindito-120 pages

I enjoy Star Wars and graphic novels, so I checked this out. I didn't like it as much as I expected, actually. It's set during the High Republic, approximately 150 years before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Jedi Knight Villar Mac arrives on Jedha to help guard the Convocation and the Guardians of the Whills. The Jedi are there to keep the peace and only interfere when asked for help. A new threat is revealed and riots erupt in the streets near the Convocation because of this new threat. I thought this would be more of a mystery and keep me more engaged, but it was just okay. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
