I checked this in one day and just had to check it out myself. This is a feel-good book, one you might set on the coffee table and read snatches of here and there. It's a collection of stories of animals that bonded together. Very cute.
But maybe not completely real........I mean, go research that lioness and oryx. It wasn't exactly a happy situation. But whatever! For the sake of "awww"s I'll buy it.

Moomintroll notices weird goings-on in Moominvalley; so he sets out on a journey with his friend Sniff to find out what they should expect from the comet in the sky that keeps getting closer.  Along the way he makes some new friends, gets saved from an octopus, and makes it home just in time for cake (although it may have been sat on by a muskrat).  The Moomin series is charming and innocent, although the books cannot beat the animated adventures (which are on Netflix- check them out sometime).  The best juvenile fiction to come out of Finland.

You know, someone referred to these books on Goodreads as "insipid."  Probably the same sort of person who doesn't see the worth in Owly books (there aren't words!).  I just feel the need to say that these books combine learning to read simple words with learning to read pictures and body language- and BOTH are valuable skills for young people.  Along with the "lesson" of sharing- and because there isn't much in the way of background art or whatnot, these books are more about the story/reading than many other picture books.  Simply put, I love these and I will defend them all day long.

Overwhelmed Max gives up and throws away his latest attempt with the others in the trash. Milo refuses to let him give up, he fishes through the garbage and pastes together the perfect yet wacky message for Molly Green from Max!

If you squeal at the very thought of a picture of a kitten doing something kitten-ish, then this book is for you.  It is a children's book, but it is by the creator of the webcomic "Cat versus Human" (cat-lovers should appreciate it)  http://www.catversushuman.com/ so it appeals to all ages, if you like cats or humor or joy.  If that hasn't convinced you, I'll just say this: there is a river of milk in which cats that are also mermaids get to frolic in.  It's amazing.
