Comet in Moominland, by Tove Jansson, 192 pagesMoomintroll notices weird goings-on in Moominvalley; so he sets out on a journey with his friend Sniff to find out what they should expect from the comet in the sky that keeps getting closer. Along the way he makes some new friends, gets saved from an octopus, and makes it home just in time for cake (although it may have been sat on by a muskrat). The Moomin series is charming and innocent, although the books cannot beat the animated adventures (which are on Netflix- check them out sometime). The best juvenile fiction to come out of Finland.
