Return of the Mummy (Classic Goosebumps, #18; Goosebumps #23) by R.L. Stine

Return of the Mummy (Classic Goosebumps, #18; Goosebumps #23) by R.L. Stine-160 pages

⭐⭐⭐☆☆

Gabe travels back to Egypt to visit his Uncle Ben who's excavating a mummy's tomb in a pyramid. He spends the summer with his cousin Sari and Uncle Ben. Ben is on the verge of discovering a new tomb of an ancient Egyptian prince related to King Tut. Sari is always so competitive and tries to scare Gabe a lot. I enjoyed reading this one, though maybe not quite as much as some others in the series.

The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb by R.L. Stine (Classic Goosebumps #6, Goosebumps #5)

The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb by R.L. Stine (Classic Goosebumps #6, Goosebumps #5)-132 pages

Gabe travels to Egypt with his parents to see the Great Pyramid of Al-Jiza where his Uncle Ben is working. However, a few days into the trip his parents are called to Alexandria for a meeting and Gabe convinces them to let him stay in Cairo with his Uncle Ben and cousin Sari. His Uncle Ben is an archaeologist who is excavating the Pyramids for tombs containing mummies. Strange events begin happening, however, and Gabe and Sari start to believe the Mummy's tomb might be cursed as Ahmed (one of Uncle Ben's associates) claims. Will Sari, Gabe, and Uncle Ben escape the tomb?

Scooby-Doo! and the Mummy's Curse by Jesse McCann

Scooby-Doo! and the Mummy's Curse by Jesse McCann-24 pages

I have seen the movie this book is based on, so I read the book. It is a bit weird reading easy books for leisure, but that is the challenge this month. I do enjoy Scooby-Doo very much, though and always have. In this story, Scooby and the gang visit Velma in Egypt where she is working on an archaeological dig and shenanigans soon ensue. Scooby-Doo is always fun to read and watch!

Mummies and Pyramids by Mary Pope Osborne and Will Osborne

Mummies and Pyramids by Mary Pope Osborne and Will Osborne-119 pages

This is the companion nonfiction to Mummies in the Morning by Osborne. I enjoyed reading this and Mummies in the Morning. I did learn/re-learn a few things about Ancient Egypt and mummies (i.e. Tutankhamun (King Tut) was 8 when he became ruler and died at age 18, so he was called the "boy king"). I enjoy historical fiction and nonfiction and I like that a guide to further research (which includes going to the library!) is in the back of this book. Kids learning how to properly research history and other subjects is important. As I said in my review of Mummies in the Morning, I really liked reading these books as a kid and I still enjoy them to a somewhat lesser extent.

Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osborne

Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osborne-65 pages

I really enjoyed the Magic Tree House books as a kid, so I am going to read several for this month's challenge (Juvenile and Easy Books). I decided to start with this one and I actually read the new edition, but the only thing different is the cover. I like that these books teach kids history in an exciting, fun way. They are still fun to read, although not quite as fun as when I was a kid. In this one, Jack and Annie go back to Ancient Egypt and aid the ghost/mummy of an Egyptian queen in crossing through the underworld and entering the afterlife.
