Kamisama Kiss, v. 25 by Julietta Suzuki

Kamisama Kiss, v. 25 by Julietta Suzuki - 208 pages

It's finally time for Nanami to graduate from high school.  It's also time for her and Tomoe to marry and leave Mikage Shrine.

This is the final volume in the Kamisama Kiss manga series.  It ties up of the series bringing back most of the characters for the wedding.  A good ending to a great series.

Kamisama Kiss, v. 23 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages

Nanami and the others head to the Land of the Dead to rescue the kidnapped soul of Okuninushi and to stop Kirohito from getting Akuro-oh's body.
Nanami's big secret is revealed in this volume and it is interesting to see the different reactions.  I've also caught up on all the published volumes and now must wait for the next book to come out.

Kamisama Kiss, v. 20 by Julietta Suzuki

Kamisama Kiss, v. 20 by Julietta Suzuki - 208 pages

The school trip comes to an end with a couple more adventures.  When they get back home, Tomoe expresses a desire to become human.  But when Tomoe tries to become human he is instead transformed into a fox.
This volume probably does best so far at realizing Tomoe's feelings and emotions.  It also reveals his motivations for his actions.

Kamisama Kiss, v. 19 by Julietta Suzuki

Kamisama Kiss, v. 19 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages

Tomoe must rescue Nanami after she gives up most of her life force to save Kirohito.  This leaves Karuma and Mizuki to save Ami from the mermaid queen.  Another great entry in the series.

Himemiko and Kota's love story becomes complicated when Kota discovers Himemiko's lies.  Then Tomoe's memories of his lost love are returning which means a death curse is nearing it's end and it is up to Nanami to find the cure.  Finally, it's time for the school trip to Okinawa . . .

These volumes are really starting to up the romance factor in the series.  It is becoming less comedic and more dramatic.  Still, I am enjoying the series.

In these volumes, Nanami determines to help Kazuma heal his father from an illness.  She's then kidnapped, along with the shrine, to officiate a wedding between Himemiko and Prince Nishiki.
I'm continuing to enjoy the series and learning more of the backstories of all the different characters.

Kamisama Kiss, v. 5-8 by Julietta Suzuki

Kamisama Kiss, v. 5 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages
Kamisama Kiss, v. 6 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages
Kamisama Kiss, v. 7 by Julietta Suzuki - 192 pages
Kamisama Kiss, v. 8 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages

These volumes continue the story of Nanami and Tomoe as they deal with holding a festival at the Mikage Shrine and the week-long gathering of kamisama in Izuma.

Unfortunately, we no longer have volume 4 (and neither does anyone else in Evergreen) so I had to skip that volume in the series.  It was a little confusing for the first part of fifth volume as a couple new characters were introduced that became friends of Nanami.  Luckily, I was able to figure out most of what was going on.  I might try to interlibrary loan the fifth book just to see what I missed.  I still enjoyed the rest of the books and look forward to reading more of the series.

Kamisama Kiss, v. 1-3 by Juliette Suzuki

Kamisama Kiss, v. 1 by Juliette Suzuki - 200 pages
Kamisama Kiss, v. 2 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages
Kamisama Kiss, v. 3 by Julietta Suzuki - 200 pages

Nanami finds herself alone and homeless after her father runs away to escape the debt collectors and she's evicted from their apartment.  Luckily, she meets and helps a man in the park who "gives" her his home in thanks.  When she gets to the house, she discovers that he has turned her into deity of the local shrine of matchmaking.  Now she's dealing with a cranky familiar while fighting off yokai who are after her new powers.

I tried this series once before and didn't make it through the first volume.  However, we watching the anime at our last Teen Anime Club meeting and I thought I would give it another try.  I found that I really enjoyed it this time.  I think I just didn't give it enough time to get past the introductions to the characters and to get into the story before.  I think this would be a great series for those who liked the Fruits Basket series.
