Took a while for it to grab my interest.  Thankfully, true to Patterson's form the chapters are short!  I found myself cheering the deaths of characters who were the idiots and exploiting the eruption for money and self promotion.  And being sad for those who died who were the good people, working hard to save lives.  It was ok, longer than it needed to be.

When Olive’s twin sister’s wedding gets ruined by food poisoning, she is forced to go on her sister’s honeymoon because it was a nonrefundable honeymoon to Hawaii. But the groom’s brother, Ethan, was also told he should take advantage of the free trip, and it just so happens that Olive and Ethan hate each other. Deciding to go together but spend the whole time apart, they begin their 10 day fake honeymoon. Spending so much time near each other makes them realize the reasons they hated each other weren’t what they thought they were.

This was another cozy romance that I enjoyed, but there was a lot of focus on the main character’s weight that wasn’t necessary so I didn’t appreciate that aspect of it.

Nick, just as blindsided by the affair, wants answers. So he suggests that he and Jacks search for the truth together, retracing the doomed lovers’ last days in Hawaii.

I won't give the ending away but it is creepy and I did not see it coming.  I enjoyed it and was pulling for Jacks all the way.

I really enjoyed reading the Magic Tree House books when I was younger (and still do, honestly). They take readers to far away lands and to pivotal times in history. In this one, Jack and Annie are sent to Hawaii by Morgan Le Fay to build a special "ship" and find an everyday magic. Along the way, they meet and befriend Boka and Kama and go surfing. Also, Jack and Annie encounter an earthquake and a Tsunami and learn how to Hula dance. They also learn (as does the reader) that Hula was/is a form of storytelling and in ancient Hawaii there was no written language and, therefore, no books. I found this a joy to read. I enjoy when we do a children's books challenge for JCL Reads.

The Big Kahuna is the sixth book in the Fox/O'Hare series.  This time Janet writes with her son Peter Evanovich.  This was a quick and entertaining read.  When the Big Kahuna turns up missing, Nick and Kate must travel to Hawaii to find out who is behind his disappearance.

Scooby and the gang visit Hawaii and soon come in contact with a Tiki trying to scare away everyone. Soon, they solve the mystery of who is behind the Tiki, but it's not who they expect. Anything Scooby-Doo is fun to watch/read.
