This book was sweet from start to finish! I wasn't sure about the Bachelorette vibe at first but it ended up working really well (especially since we got Beau's perspective and knew that he wasn't the playboy everyone had him down as). I wanted to give Ellie a big hug, and also my therapist's business card. Even as a side character, Diana had great development and I loved her growth.

Excited to see where this series goes next!

This surprise pregnancy romance ended up surprising me. I wouldn't immediately gravitate toward this trope, and I can't say I resonated with all of her pregnancy experiences, but Cara Bastone is such an incredible writer that I fell right into this story. It was laugh-out-loud funny, poignant, swoony, and complicated. Shep is the ultimate book boyfriend! Bastone is definitely on my list of authors I want to read again.

The chemistry was amazing, the banter and antics were hilarious, and the setting was immersive. Five stars for this excellent summer romance.

Full of magic and mystery, this story really hit the spot. The storytelling and setting were beautiful. Great for fans of Outlander, The Last Kingdom, and Celtic lore.

This was much more of a romance than I expected based on how it was recommended to me, but I'm okay with that! Grace and Stephen were both really wonderful characters on their own, and very sweet together. Three cheers for middle aged romance and mentions of back pain. Because the focus ended up being more on the romance, the mystery of the murders took a back seat and seems set up to progress further in the next book, which certainly makes me want to read it because that reveal was super creepy and cool.

Overall a great pick for a slightly-less-spicy Romantasy!

I love a good "would you change your life" scenario, so this was a fun read. The author handled the mechanics of the time jump - and subsequent search to go back - really well. At various points I even started to question whether she actually jumped or if she really did have amnesia.

This book is about a lot of different kinds of love, and I really appreciated that. The plot of Lucy and Sam getting to know each other was really sweet and well done, but the love between friends, the parent-child relationships, and the support of coworkers were all beautiful too. I'm still mulling over the ending and whether I wanted it to end the way it did, but I can't be mad either way. This one will be fun to discuss in book club!

Funny Story

Which is how Daphne begins her new story: stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.

Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned-up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex... right?

It took me a long time to get into this one, and I was worried that Emily Henry is just not for me. There were still parts of it that I struggled with, especially some of the pacing, but overall it was a cute story with great banter and a sweet romance.

A decent (and way more spicy) second installment in the McBrides series.
Junebug is at it again, ordering brides for her unsuspecting brothers. This time it's for Morgan though, who has absolutely zero interest in marrying and just wants to get back to his old life of driving cattle. The woman in question, Epiphany (Pip), was a true delight. As a woman who has also been a bit "too much" for a lot of people, I loved reading Epiphany's perspective and seeing her take charge of her life and grow through her insecurities. On the other hand, I wasn't a big fan of Morgan in this book. Stubborn to a fault, he resisted any character growth until the very end, when it all happened at once and seemed too good to be true. Romance books usually do so much better than this, but it seems the only thing that brought him around was salivating over Pip's curves. The journey was fun, but in the end I wasn't very satisfied.
