The first in the new Underworlds series, this adventurous book stars 4th grader Owen Brown who sees his best friend, Dana, get sucked into the underworld from the floor of the school. He is soon joined by two friends who together venture into the Underworld to face Hades and win back Dana. The book is very fast-paced and filled with action to keep the attention of even the most reluctant of readers. I loved the mix of various monsters/creatures from all mythology (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Norse, etc.). This book is perfect for a second grade reading level and above.
