Impossible by Nancy Werlin, 376 pages
17 year old Lucy has been raised by her foster parents ever since her mother went stark raving mad. She still sees her from time to time as a bag lady who tries to communicate with her daughter by singing a poem to her. Lucy's family is under a curse and has been since many generations past when one girl spurned the love of an Elfin knight. Each girl ends up pregnant (by means of the knight possessing someone) before they turn 18. A riddle must be solved (3 impossible tasks done) before her daughter is born or she, like all the generations before her, will go mad and belong to the elfin knight for all time. The idea of the book sounded fabulous to me until I started to read it. The book does have mystery, murder, romance, and suspense, but not enough to make it a page turner. I started and restarted the book too many times to count before I finally pressed on.
