Family Man by Jayne Ann Krentz

Family Man by Jayne Ann Krentz - 416 pages

Katy owes Justine Gilchrist for giving her a job when she really needed one.  So she is determined to convince Justine's estranged grandson Luke to save the Gilchrist restaurant empire.  Luke wants nothing to do with Justine or the other Gilchrists.  But he is intrigued by Katy . . .

This is an old-style romance from Jayne Ann Krentz.  It's a little dated having been written in the 1980s.  However, I still enjoyed the story.

Afterburn / Aftershock - Sylvia Day

Afterburn / Aftershock by Sylvia Day
254 pages

Never mix business with pleasure. Never bring politics into the bedroom. In a way I did both when I took Jackson Rutledge as a lover. I can't say I wasn't warned.  Two years later, he was back. Walking into a deal I'd worked hard to close. Under the tutelage of Lei Yeung, one of the sharpest businesswomen in New York, I had picked up a thing or two since Jax walked away. I wasn't the girl he once knew, but he hadn't changed. Unlike the last time we'd drifted into each other's lives, I knew exactly what I was dealing with--and how addictive his touch could be.  The inner circle of glamour, sex, and privilege was Jax's playground--but this time, I knew the rules of the game. In the cutthroat business world, one adage rules all: keep your enemies close and your ex-lovers closer...

Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives: Funky Finds in Flavortown by Guy Fieri

Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives: Funky Finds in Flavortown by Guy Fieri by Ann Volkwein - 314 pages

This book gives Guy's take on several of the restaurants visited on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  I really enjoy the show and wondered if it would be as interesting in a book format.  The book does not have the same fun of the tv show.  What I found most interesting was trying to determine if I had seen the episodes the restaurants were featured on.  I did remember several of the recipes and the restaurant owners.  I would say this book is only for those who really like the show.

Eat It To Beat It! by David Zinczenko

Eat It To Beat It! by David Zinczenko, 357 pages

This book is by the bestseller author of Eat This, Not That! Eat It To Beat It! is full of information on how to eat smart and regain your health while still eating the foods you love.  There is a food additive glossary in back that defines most of the additives in the food we eat.  The book describes how to eat healthy at many chain restaurants and what foods to avoid.  The book contains chapters on such popular foods as breads, burgers, cookies, and sandwiches.  The book reveals that just because a product claims it is lower fat, does not necessarily mean it is healthier.  This book makes sense. We all need to make healthier choices!

100 Unique Eats and Eateries in Missouri by Ann Hazelwood

100 Unique Eats and Eateries in Missouri by Ann M. Hazelwood, 112 pages

This was a very interesting book.  It features 100 unique places to eat all over the state of Missouri.  This book is divided by regions, so it is easy to find places close to home.  Besides being great restaurants, the places the book recommends all have something unique about them.  I also found it fascinating that out of 100 restaurants, I had only been to one of them statewide. That one is the Blue Owl in Kimmswick.  I have made it my goal to sample some of these restaurants, many of them I have never heard of before.  I especially would like to try the one that throws the rolls!!
