With the third book of this series coming out recently, I thought it was time to get this series under my belt, even though vampire fiction isn't my usual genre. I was a fun fantasy novel with all the usual blood and lust tropes. It wasn't anything I hadn't read before, but it certainly kept me intrigued, though it started very slowly. I will continue on with the series.

Evermore is the first book in the Immortals series by Alyson Noel. This book follows a teen named Ever who tragically loses her parents, younger sister, and dog in a car accident. Ever, now orphaned,  goes to live with her Californian, big shot lawyer of an aunt.
Ever, being the new girl in school, is not only dealing with the tragic loss of her family, but also the punishment of  her 'curse'; having a near death experience leaves Ever with mind reading-aurora seeing abilities (including the ability to communicate with her deceased little sister). The once popular teen now has only new friends Haven and Miles, until Damen moves to town. Damen has the ability to make her psychic abilities disappear with one touch, and she quickly falls in love with him. However, Ever realizes that Damen may be too good to be true.

Paul kidnapps Jeanie so she can turn his daughter, but Jeanie finds out that Paul is her lifemate. Will Jeanie decide to use her one turn to turn Paul's daughter or will the Enforcers get to them brfore the task is performed.

Kate and Georgia have moved to Paris, France, to live with their grandparents following the death of their parents. Georgia is a heavy party girl and expresses her grief by continuing her party lifestyle. Kate is more of an introvert and grieves silently in books, museums and French cafes. One day, she meets a stranger who just happens to be immortal. Obviously there is something more there and within a few chapters they are deeply in love. Never mind that she sees him do some amazing inhuman things as well as witnesses his friend die and come back to life. She's in love and although she freaks for a few pages, she decides he's worth it and absolutely nothing else matters. As Gomer Pyle would say, "Surprise! Surprise!" This novel while well-written smacks loudly of "Twilight" meets the "Mortal Instruments" series. However, I have to give credit for the storyline behind the immortality. It was very creative. I also like how the writer brought Georgia into the story though the book is told in first person by Kate. In a nutshell - Kate falls for "Mr. Right", Georgia falls for "Mr. Wrong." What happens when two sisters who are very close date very different guys who happen to be immortal enemies? You'll have to read the series to find out.
