This is the 16th book in the Weird School series by Dan Gutman. In this book, we meet Ms. Coco. She is the teacher that runs the gifted program at Ella Mentry School. The month of April has been designated as National Poetry Month and Mr. Klutz, the Principal, challenges the students to write 1000 poems. AJ is naturally gifted writing poetry so he decides to turn this month (which he hates so much) into a money-making opportunity by selling his poems to students that haven't written any. The light-hearted story made me laugh at the ways AJ tries to get out of writing poetry, only to find out that he is actually really good at it.

Miss Kraft is Daft by Dan Gutman - 106 pages

This is the seventh book in the Weird School series by Dan Gutman. In this book, Mr. Granite comes down with a cold and needs to go home. The class then gets a very intriguing substitute teacher, Miss Kraft, that has a unique way of teaching the students that keeps them engaged and learning, while they don't realize they are learning. This is a light-hearted read that your elementary age children will enjoy reading.

My Weird School #3
A.J. thinks reading and the library is boring -- but that is before he meets the new school librarian. She keeps pretending she is someone else -- George Washington, Johnny Appleseed, Neil Armstrong.
This book fulfilled two goals for me. I was able to read a "library" book for the JCL Reads monthly challenge and I also read a book in one of the most popular JCHAP series. For a easy chapter book, the book was pretty good. It didn't have much of a story line, but you won't in a short book like that. The language was simple which works well for emergent readers.
