Walking on Water by Richard Paul Evans

Walking on Water  by Richard Paul Evans  305 pages

When the long walk from Seattle to Key West finally nears an end, Alan Christoffersen must return to the west and face yet another crisis just as he has begun to heal from so much loss.

This is the 5th and last book in this series.  When I started this series, I didn't know if I would like it, but I quickly became a huge fan and couldn't get the next book quick enough.  This concludes his walk across America, but first he must deal with more heartache and a pause in his walk.  When he finally reaches his goal, the ending is very touching and worth the wait!

Step of Faith by Richard Paul Evans

Step of Faith  by Richard Paul Evans  279 pages

Alan Christoffersen decided to leave his painful memories behind and walk from Seattle to the farthest point on the map, Key West. In St. Louis, when his severe vertigo is diagnosed as the side effect of a brain tumor, Alan must go to Los Angeles for treatment. He is surrounded by those who care most for him, but one by one he alienates them all, and he resumes his journey in angry loneliness. Can he have faith that life can be worth living again?

Book four in the walk series and I am so excited to continue with this series.  This one was even more interesting to me because he is walking through Missouri and especially St. Louis and south.  So many of the areas were familiar to me.  His story hits a low when he is diagnosed with a brain tumor, but after his treatment he returns right back to his walk. Now I can't wait to read the last book in the series.

The Road to Grace by Richard Paul Evans

The Road to Grace  by Richard Paul Evans  234 pages

Now nearly halfway through his trek, Alan Christoffersen walks from South Dakota to Memphis, Tennessee. He covers more than 800 miles on foot, but it's the people he meets along the way who give the journey its true meaning.

This is the third book in the series and I am hooked.  I must know how it ends.  Alan Christoffersen lost his wife, home and business at the same time; so he took off walking across America.  He has made it from Seattle to St. Louis so far in this book and met so many interesting people along the way.  I can't wait to see how his story ends and what kind of ending the author will write.

Walking on Water by Richard Paul Evans

Walking on Water by Richard Paul Evans
(The Walk #5)
320 pages

"After the death of his beloved wife, after the loss of his advertising business to his once-trusted partner, after bankruptcy forced him from his home, Alan Christoffersen's daring cross-country journey--a walk across America, from Seattle to Key West, with only the pack on his back--has taught him lessons about love, forgiveness and, most of all, hope.

"Now Alan must again return west to face yet another crisis, one that threatens to upend his world just as he had begun to heal from so much loss, leaving him unsure of whether he can reach the end [of] his journey.  It will take the love of a new friend, and the wisdom of an old friend, to help him to finally leave the past behind and find the strength and hope to live again."  --from the publisher

Reading only the last book in a series is a strange experience, but this year I'm reading through books I own that I've never read.  I'm really not sure how this one ended up on my shelf.  I thought it was a pretty good inspirational fiction tale, and I may go back and read the first in the series to get a feel for the tragedies that led him on his walk.
