The Choice by Nora Roberts

The Choice (The Dragon Heart Legacy #3) by Nora Roberts - 438 pages, Audiobook - 15 hrs. 30 min.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The conclusion of The Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy, preceded by The Awakening and The Becoming.

Breen Siobhan Kelly grew up in the world of Man and was once unaware of her true nature. Now she is in Talamh after passing through a portal from Ireland, trying to heal after a terrible battle and heartbreaking losses. Her grandfather, the dark god Odran, has been defeated in his attempt to rule over Talamh, and over Breen--for now.

With the enemy cast out and the portal to the Dark World sealed, this is a time to rest and to prepare. Breen spreads her wings and realizes a power she's never experienced before. She rededicates herself to writing her stories, and when his duties as taoiseach permit, she is together with Keegan, who has trained her as a warrior and whom she has grown to love.

It's Keegan who's at her side when the enemy's witches, appear to her in her sleep, practicing black magick, sacrificing the innocent, and plotting a brutal destruction for Breen. And soon, united with him and with all of Talamh, she will seek out those in desperate need of rescue, and confront the darkness with every weapon she has: her sword, her magicks--and her courage...

I really enjoyed this book (as well as the 1st two books in the trilogy). I think listening to the audiobook added to the story as the narrator was able to add Irish accents and correct pronunciation of Irish words.

The Obsession by Nora Roberts

The Obsession by Nora Roberts-453 pages

I don't usually read romances, but I did enjoy reading this one. Naomi Carson (formerly Bowes) followed her seemingly devout Christian father into the woods one night when she was nearly 12. She thought she would find something harmless in the cellar her father went in and out of, but instead she found something horrifying when she went in. She found a young woman, Ashley, chained to the wall, naked and bleeding. Her father was a serial rapist and killer. She found photos of more women who were his victims. She saved Ashley and was a main witness against her father, Thomas David Bowes. Years later, she's trying to forget about the past and not let anyone else know about her blood ties. She's been on the move constantly, not staying anywhere too long. However, she's found a remote home in rural Washington that she falls in love with and wants to renovate. She also meets a local auto mechanic and likes him, might even love him. Can she grapple with her past and make this home? When a serial killer moves into the area and starts raping and killing in a similar manner to her father, who's in prison, her past comes back into focus. I really liked the ending and found this to be a good read.

Irsh Hearts by Nora Roberts

Irish Thoroughbred by Nora Roberts - 443 pages

This contains 2 books,

Irish Thoroughbred

"COME TO AMERICA. YOUR HOME IS WITH ME NOW."

Adelia Cunnane's uncle had written her. So Adelia had left Ireland to join him on what he had described as the finest horse farm in Maryland.

Adelia agreed with her uncle about the farm. But what should she think about its owner, Travis Grant?

She knew that he could master his strongest horse. She had seen his eyes soften at the birth of a foal. Yet his lips on hers demanded a submission that she was not yet ready to give -- at least not until he had spoken the words she had to hear.

Irish Rose

Burke Logan was a gambler, and luck had made him owner of Three Aces, one of the finest stables in Maryland. He'd come to Ireland to buy horses, but one look at Erin McKinnon's fiery beauty told him that he'd be leaving with a whole lot more.

Erin McKinnon had dreams and ambitions--and no intention of living out her days in the small town of Skibbereen! She knew Burke held all the cards, but when he asked her to come with him to America, it was an offer she couldn't refuse. Burke Logan was a man to be reckoned with, and from the moment they met, Erin knew that even if she lost, she'd win.

The Awakening by Nora Roberts

The Awakening by Nora Roberts - 435 pages
The Dragon Heart Trilogy #1

Breen is shocked when she discovers that her mother has been hiding a multi-million dollar account from her.  Turns out the money was given to her by the father she thought had abandoned them both years ago.  Now Breen travels to Ireland to discover her heritage and try to find her father.  She doesn't expect to find that heritage in another land -- Talamh, a world of magic, fae, sidhe, were, and dragons.  She also doesn't expect to have to make a decision about which world she truly belongs in . . . .

This is the first book in Nora Roberts' latest paranormal romance trilogy.  I found it difficult to get into the story.  It was very slow moving.  It also had very little romance in it -- less than a lot of straight fantasy books have.  Still, I'll probably read the next book in the series.

The Search by Nora Roberts

The Search by Nora Roberts - 488 pages

It took a long time for Fiona to find her feet again after being kidnapped by a serial killer.  But she's found peace as a dog trainer and leader of a search and rescue team.  Then she's targeted by another killer.  Now she must accept help from her new neighbor Simon to stay safe.

This is romantic suspense novel by Nora Roberts.  I enjoyed the story.  I like the characters of Fiona and Simon as well as the dogs in the story.

The Rise of Magicks by Nora Roberts

The Rise of Magicks by Nora Roberts - 454 pages
Chronicles of The One - Book Three

Fallon has been preparing her whole life to battle the evil that was unleashed with the Doom.  As The One, she is going to lead the Light against the Dark and it's now time to bring the battle to them.  With her friends, family, and lover Duncan, Fallon is going to end the Dark or die trying.

This is the final book in the Chronicles of The One by Nora Roberts.  I usually like all of Nora Roberts writings.  This series was unusual in that I hated the first book, loved the second book, and the final book was okay.  It was a little hard to read this book as it hit a little too close to home right now as it is apocalyptic fiction started by a worldwide pandemic.

Remember When by Nora Roberts / J.D. Robb

Remember When by Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb - 440 pages

Laine Tavish owns an antique and collectibles shop about to become embroiled in a diamond theft.  Max Gannon is investigating the theft of nearly $30 million worth of diamonds.  He suspects her estranged father has stolen the diamonds and has hidden them with Laine.  Unfortunately, her father did not do this job by himself.  One of his partners believes all the diamonds should be his and is willing to do anything to get them . .  even murder.

This is a book that combines a modern day romance by Nora Roberts as well as her futuristic detective series under her pen name J.D. Robb.  It was interesting story.  I do think the stories went really quick but that is mainly due to the fact that it is two stories squeezed into one book.

Tribute by Nora Roberts

Tribute by Nora Roberts - 456 pages

Cilla McGowan has decided to restore the farm her famous actress grandmother loved.  It's her chance to prove that she can remodel houses and be a contractor.  However, someone doesn't want the farm restored.  Now Cilla and her next door neighbor Ford are working to finish the house and discover who seems to have a grudge against Cilla and her work.

This romantic suspense novel by Nora Roberts was interesting to read.  I liked the characters.  It was also interesting how Cilla's grandmother was incorporated into the story through dream sequences.

Vendetta in Death by J.D. Robb

Vendetta in Death by J.D. Robb - 356 pages

Eve Dallas has a new murderer to hunt.  Lady Liberty is killing men who have wronged women -- rapists, cheats, abusers.  While she believes she knows who the killer is, she has to find proof before she can make an arrest.  Will she find it before another man is killed?

This is the latest Eve Dallas mystery by Nora Roberts.  It was another great entry in the series.  This book focused almost exclusively on the mystery rather than including a side plot about the personal lives of the characters.  It was also interesting that you found yourself (and the various characters) sympathizing with the murderer rather than the victims quite a bit throughout the book.  I would definitely suggest this to those who have enjoyed the Dallas books in the past.

The MacKade Brothers: Devin & Shawn by Nora Roberts

The Heart of Devin MacKade by Nora Roberts - 217 pages
The Fall of Shawn MacKade by Nora Roberts - 231 pages

These are the last two books in the MacKade Brothers series by Nora Roberts.  They are older books and you can tell.  They could use a little updating.  Still, they were interesting books to read.

The MacKade Brothers: Rafe & Jared by Nora Roberts

The Return of Rafe MacKade by Nora Roberts - 213 pages
The Pride of Jared MacKade by Nora Roberts - 219 pages

These are the first two books of a quartet about brothers by Nora Roberts.  They are older books and you can tell they are a little dated.  Still, I enjoyed reading them.

Under Currents by Nora Roberts

Under Currents by Nora Roberts - 436 pages

Zane Bigelow seemingly has the perfect family -- surgeon father, stay at home mother, and loving sister.  But beneath the surface there are the undercurrents of abuse.  Then one terrible night everything blows up.  Now, years later, he is returning to town and meets Darby who has knowledge of undercurrents herself.  Will they be able to face the past together to survive them.

This is the latest by Nora Roberts.  I enjoyed it.  It stretched the imagination a little that one couple would endure so much violence in their lives.  Still, I really enjoyed the book.

Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts

Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts - 339 pages

Laurel has been in love with her best friend's brother nearly her whole life.  It takes 20 years for her to act on it and to give him a kiss.  Suddenly, their relationship has changed from friends to lovers.  Will they get over their issues to have a happily ever after?

This is the third book in Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet.  A good addition to the series.

Vision in White by Nora Roberts & Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts

Vision in White by Nora Roberts - 319 pages
Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts - 358 pages

These are the first two books in The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts.  The series is about four lifelong friends who run a wedding business together.  Each book focuses on the romance of one of the friends.

Vision in White features Mac, the wedding photographer, and her romance with Carter, a teacher.  Mac is leery of relationships after watching her parents marry and divorce multiple times.

Bed of Roses features Emma, the florist, who is starting a relationship with friend Jack.  While Laurel is a believer in romance and happily ever after, Jack isn't.

Both books are quick, fun romances to read.

The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts

The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts - 324 pages
The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy #3

Hope loves her new job as the innkeeper for Inn Boonsboro.  She loves being in the same town as her best friends.  The one cloud is Ryder.  They just strike each other the wrong way . . . until they don't.  Now they're navigating a relationship when neither one of them really wants one.

This is the final book in The Inn Boonsboro trilogy by Nora Roberts.  I enjoyed listening to this story on audio.  A definite must read for Nora Roberts fans.

The Next Always by Nora Roberts

The Next Always by Nora Roberts - 489 pages
The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy #1

Beckett Montgomery has had a crush on Claire Bennett since high school.  He missed his chance before as she married her high school sweetheart and moved away.  Now she's back, widowed with three young sons.  He's fought these feelings for several years when the ghost in the inn they are rehabbing steps in and gets them together.

This is the first book in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy.  I actually listened to the second book before this by accident.  I am enjoying this series and have just started on book three.

The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts

The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts - 336 pages
The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy #2

Avery and Owen have always been great friends.  To their surprise, they now seem to be more than that.  To get to their happy ending, they will have to deal with ghosts -- both figurative and literal.

This is the second book in the Innsboro Trilogy.  I thought I had picked the first book to listen to on audio, however, somehow I had gotten wrong.  Still I enjoyed the book.  I am going to read the previous book though before moving on to the final book.

Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts

Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts - 453 pages
Bk 2 - Chronicles of the One

Fallon Swift is The One.  The One destined to save the world from the evil that overtook it during the Doom when over half the population was wiped out by a magical disease and some of those who remained became magical creatures themselves.  Now that she is thirteen, she must leave her family for two years to be trained to lead her army against the evil in the world.

This is the second book in the dystopian Chronicles of The One series by Nora Roberts.  I thought it was better than the first book -- which I ended up skimming just to get the main plot points.  I think it was because this book focused on fewer characters and less world building the first book did.  It was also different in that it really didn't contain any romance in the book.

Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts

Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts - 472 pages

Rowan Tripp and Gulliver Curry are smoke jumpers dealing with murder, arson, and sabotage.

I listened to the audio version of this book.  I enjoyed it.  The romance and mystery aspects were well integrated into the story.  The characters were also intriguing and fun to "read".
