Private: The Royals by James Patterson with Rees Jones, 138 pages

If you read James Patterson's full length Private Novels, you will enjoy this latest bookshot.  Only 140 pages, this was a quick read that times left the reader wanting more.  In this thriller, Jack Morgan is in London working with Private London's Peter Knight.  Abbie, the Duke of Aldershot's daughter and a member of the royal family, has been kidnapped.  Jack and Private have 24 hours to find the kidnappers. What follows is a shocking twist.

The McCullagh Inn In Maine by Jen McLaughlin

The McCullagh Inn In Maine by Jen McLaughlin, 137 pages

This was the third James Patterson's Bookshots Flames I read.  I purchased each one for about $3.50 new at WalMart. so I would say it is a good value. James Patterson's Bookshots are very quick reads, which are nice if you are going on a trip and need a quick beach read or light book to carry in your purse.

The McCullagh Inn In Maine almost read more like a thriller or suspense novel than a romance novel.  I liked the fact that not only was there a romance blooming, there was a also a suspenseful mystery as well.

Learning To Ride by Erin Knightley

Learning to Ride by Erin Knightley, 128 pages

Learning To Ride is another one of James Patterson's Bookshots Flames (in other words, a very short romance novel).  Although, these Bookshots are engaging reads, they almost read too short.  It only takes about an hour to read one of these Bookshots.

In Learning To Ride, Madeline Harper finds herself temporarily in Texas while managing a corporate takeover.  But things get complicated when Madeline meets local rodeo star Tanner Callen.  Can Madeline tame the bachelor enough to settle down or will she return to New York with a broken heart?

Kill Or Be Killed (Bookshots) by James Patterson

Kill Or Be Killed (Bookshots) by James Patterson, 446 pages (245 pages reads)

Kill or Be Killed was a compilation of four of Patterson's new short stories called Bookshots.  These short stories only take a few hours to read, so they are nice to read on the go.

The first one I read was the Heist.  The Heist was a short, quick, fast paced thriller about three thieves who set off to Amsterdam to steal diamonds.  Is there more behind the theft than just a common heist?

The second story I read was The Women's War.  Former Marine Colonel Amanda Collins and her small group of women warriors set out to avenge the death of Amanda's family.  This time writing with Shan Serafin, Patterson writes another suspenseful Bookshot.

Let's Make Believe By James Patterson with James O. Born

Let's Play Make -Believe by James Patterson with James O. Born, 113 pages

Christy and Marty are two divorced singles.  Well, at least Marty is divorced. Christy is separated from her husband and living in a motel.  Is it love at first sight or something more?  One or both of them is playing a deadly game. Who will win?

Chase by James Patterson with Michael Ledwidge

Chase by James Patterson with Michael Ledwidge, 115 pages

Chase is a continuation of the Michael Bennett series by James Patterson. This was a good book and maybe easier to follow than Cross Kill because I was familiar with the Michael Bennett character.  Chase was a very quick read and almost too quick.  Sometimes, I think these bookshots by James Patterson leave you wanting more.

Little Black Dress by James Patterson with Emily Raymond

Little Black Dress by James Patterson with Emily Raymond, 108 pages

I must say I enjoyed this bookshot more than some of the others I have read. This is the story of what a difference a little black dress can make in a woman's life.  Jane Avery leads kind of a dull life until she puts on her little black dress.  But, will the changes in her love life go too far?

Cross Kill by James Patterson

Cross Kill by James Patterson, 113 pages

Watch out Alex Cross, one of your enemies has come back to life.  Another bookshot by James Patterson, so you can get a quick suspense fix.  But, sometimes, I feel these little bookshots are too short to get a complete story in and too short to remember.

Zoo 2 by James Patterson and Max Dilallo

Zoo 2 by James Patterson and  Max Dilallo, 146 pages

Bookshots are the latest creation from James Patterson.  They are short little books that you can read in a day and cost as much as a magazine.  I think it is a brilliant idea for adults who don't have the time to invest in a longer novel.  I thought Zoo 2 was a good read as a follow up to his novel Zoo.  The shorter book might not of had all the details, but it was a captivating read.  Oz and his wife Chloe and son Eli are found traveling the world to try and escape the dangers of the virus making animals go crazy.  Traveling from the Arctic, to Japan, Hawaii, and Idaho, Oz has to find out why the virus is spreading to humans and how he can cure them.
