But on the night of the wedding - just when the ceilidh dancing is getting started - the groom is found dead in the dining room, with the cake-cutting sword plunged into his chest.

Hamish suddenly has a murder investigation on his hands - and one with a very long list of suspects. Access to the village is shut down, so that no one can leave until the case is closed.

But with the rumour mill at Lochdubh in overdrive and multiple theories abound, can Hamish separate fact from fiction in order to catch the killer?

Thoughts: I typically enjoy a "visit" to Lochdubh and a murder mystery involving Police Sergeant Hamish Macbeth. I did enjoy this one. I wasn't sure who did the killing until near the end, which I like. If you haven't read any of this series before and you enjoy mysteries, then I would recommend this series, especially if you like mysteries set in other countries.

This was an interesting, interactive read, definitely different than the usual mystery book. You WILL need paper and pen for this!

 

 

A good girl's guide to murder by Holly Jackson

I started this book because I love comparing books to their shows/movies. When I heard this was going to be a series Netflix was putting out from BBC I had to get a jump on the book first. 

Now the book was good in a separate way, which I think I enjoyed a bit more. It was much slower and grabbed my interest right away because it was almost written like a who-done it. Pages were police reports and interview Q&As. Alongside regular chapters. You felt like you were solving it along with Pip. 

I won't spoil too much for the individuals who have this on their TBR list, but wow. That outcome. The poor girl in the attic and Barney definitely did not deserve what happened, and honestly kinda pissed me off. 

I have started book 2 and can't wait to watch each character grow and meet new ones.
