Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey, 354 pages
(book 1 of series)

Jessica (aka Anastasia before being adopted as an infant) notices a dark stranger on the road while waiting for her school bus. When she sees him again in her classroom, she is shocked. But nothing prepares her when he says she is a vampire and he is her betrothed ... and her adoptive parents agree. She is repulsed at the same time as drawn to him. She has refused his advances, treated him cruelly, so why is it when he finds someone else to pursue she is suddenly sure she wants to spend the rest of her life with him?
The first time I read the book, I didn't like it at all. I decided to give it another shot after listening to my teens talk about it. Skimming the "letters home", which I found annoying my first read through, I really did enjoy the story much more this time around. In fact, I picked up a lot more the second time through than the first. Definitely give this book a shot. It's not Twilight, but it's a very good vampire story.
