The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan - 608 pages
Heroes of Olympus Book Three
Percy, Hazel and Frank reunite with Jason, Piper and Leo to embark upon a dangerous quest to fulfill a veiled prophecy. Will their quest result in a reunification of the Greek and Roman demigod camps or will it deepen the split and lead to war? The action scenes continue to be the strong point of the series. Kids will pick up a lot of mythology throughout the narrative without realizing they are learning. I didn't find this book up to Riordan's usual standards. There seemed to be a lot of characters who existed solely for the purposes of exposition with the main characters explaining to them past relationships and plot points.
