"Star of the Morning" by Lynn Kurland

"Star of the Morning" by Lynn Kurland, 336 pages

This book kept showing up at the library whenever I'd happen to be checking in books. Finally, I decided to check it out. I'm very glad I did. This is the first in "The Nine Kingdoms" series. It's a fabulous story that will keep you turning the page until the cliff-hanger at the end. There is magic, mystery, danger, humor and romance woven through the pages. Young Morgan has grown up hating magic from the time she was orphaned and in the care of mercenaries. She has nightmares that are filled with deep magic and evil that feeds the hate of all things magic. When she is sent on a mission to deliver a special dagger to the king, Morgan is placed on a very dangerous path. How will she react when she realizes the arrogant stranger she met on the journey is actually the king? And his "farmer" brother is actually the Archmage. Further, when she finds out exactly what is required of her - will she flee? or will she be the salvation of the realm?   I absolutely loved the characters from least to greatest and didn't think that the storyline faltered at all. I'm hoping that the rest of the series will be just as awesome as this one. This is a MUST READ.
