Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs, 352 pages
The intriguing title coupled with creepy vintage photos got my attention. I was hoping it would be a mix of Tim Burton and We Have Always Lived in the Castle; but it was more like a mix of X-Men and Percy Jackson. It is a story of a young man named Jacob, trying to unravel the mysteries of his grandfather and the Welsh island that he stayed on years ago. His search leads him to a group of "special" children who teach Jacob that he, too, is maybe more special than he realizes. Good for young adults.
