Edge Of Valor by Kyla Stone-386 pages

Edge Of Collapse Series #7 (Final)

The final battle for Fall Creek looms......and not everyone will make it out alive.
With enemies closing in on every side, the survivors of Fall Creek find themselves facing impossible odds.

Do they flee for their lives? Or do they defend their town and risk losing it all? Some things are worth fighting for, dying for.  Liam has trained them all very well, but will it be good enough?

I was happy with the finale, sad at some who were lost.  She wrapped it all up very nicely.  I highly recommend this series.

But for Hannah, it's the best day of her life. For the last five years, she's been the captive of a sadistic psychopath--until the EMP releases the lock of her prison. Battered but not broken, she emerges from her underground cell into a hostile winter wilderness with nothing but her determination to survive.

He believed he was prepared for any disaster, until the EMP took everything he'd ever cared about in a matter of seconds.  By a twist of fate Liam finds Hannah near death in the forest. Two hundred frozen, perilous miles stand between them and their destination in rural Michigan. But the killing cold isn't the only threat, for Hannah's captor isn't about to let her go...

Edge of your seat suspense...LOVED it.

Prequel to the Edge of Collapse Series
Reclusive former soldier Liam doesn't want to be anywhere near bustling downtown Chicago the day before Christmas. But his twin brother and his pregnant sister-in-law need him, so he makes the trip.

But mere minutes after leaving O'Hare, their car crashes, along with hundreds of other vehicles. When Liam's phone stops working, he begins to suspect something more sinister than a local power outage. But before he can react, the first plane falls from the sky.
I LOVED this series.  Really gets you thinking about what you would have to do to survive if everything electronic no longer worked.

An apocalyptic survival thriller that explores what could happen if terrorists successfully executed a coordinated nuclear attack the US, told from the perspectives of regular people determined to survive. Made up of complex characters and excellent writing.  I enjoyed this series very much.

The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey

The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey - 448 pages

This is an excellent dystopian post apocalyptic story set in England shedding light on modern society the best manner of science fiction.  The interpersonal relationships feel very real in a very unreal situation and the horror creeps up on you in the best possible way.  It does involve a deadly virus that devastates the world so if your headspace isn't there right now, put it on your To Read list for better times.

I discovered its also been adapted by the author into a feature film that came out in 2016 so I'm off to find that too.

Bones of Faerie Trilogy by Janni Lee Simner

1) Bones of Faerie - 256 pages

2) Faerie Winter - 307 pages

3) Faerie After - 297 pages

15 year old Liza lives in a post-apocalyptic St. Louis area devastated by the aftermath of a war between humanity and faerie.  Magic slipped over into the human world as a consequence so now even the trees move with malicious intent and the world of faerie is believed to have been destroyed.  When Liza discovers that the magic has creeped into her as well giving her visions of the past and the future then she flees her isolated town and is set upon a path to find out the true nature of the world.  I very much enjoyed the world building and characters in this series.  The Arch even plays an integral role in Liza's quest!
