The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg

The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg - 345 pages

Max is a chill guy with great friends who know he is gay.  However, he has a secret about an encounter with an older guy.  Jordan is uncomfortable around anyone other than his mom and two best friends.  He's hiding the fact that his mother is spiraling out of control and that they might lose the house.  Now Max and Jordan are working together on a food truck trying the save the house.  Over the course of the summer, they'll have to face these secrets and decide what to do about them.

I read this book as I wasn't sure if it should go in the teen or adult collection.  I believe that it is a teen book.  However, due to its subject  matter I also believe that it is definitely for older teens.

Canto Bight (Star Wars): Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi by Saladin Ahmed

Canto Bight (Star Wars): Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi by Saladin Ahmed - 320 pages

This collection of four interconnected stories fleshes out the casino / gambling world of Canto Bight featured in The Last Jedi.  If you were wondering what the backstory was on the side characters then this book is for you!  The stories feature a retired hitman, a hapless tourist and inveterate gambler and more.  In classic Star Wars fashion the action takes place in a lived in world filled with a wide variety of  interesting beings from many planets and possibly even other dimensions!  By no means is it an essential read, but it helps to expand Canto Bight beyond just a James Bond like set piece like it was in the film.

The Accidental Duchess by Madeline Hunter

The Accidental Duchess by Madeline Hunter - 389 pages

When Lady Lydia Alfreton is blackmailed over a novel manuscript she wrote several years ago, she must come up with $10,000 to pay off the blackmailer.  The only way she knows to do this is to accept the wager offered by Duke Penthurst a year ago.  She's confident she will win as she hasn't lost a wager in over a year.  What will she and the Duke do when to her shock she loses the bet?
I enjoyed this conclusion to the Fairbourne Quartet.  It tied up all the questions left over from the previous novels as well told an interesting story.

Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas - 373 pages

Sara Fielding is in London to research her newest novel when she finds a Derek Craven, owner of a gambling club, being attacked.  For saving his life, she is granted access to the club for her research.  However, the more time she spends with Derek the more she is tempted to become more adventurous like her novel heroines.
This was another enjoyable historical romance from Lisa Kleypas.
