The House That Jack Built by Guy Adams

Torchwood: The House That Jack Built by Guy Adams -- 255 pages

The house Jackson Leaves in Penylan is the focus of several unusual events.  A teen is swallowed by the road outside, the neighbor spontaneously combusts, ghosts roam the house, and a man falls out of the closet.  Torchwood is drawn to investigate as time seems to slipping at the house.

This is a book set in the Torchwood universe -- a show connected to Doctor Who.  I enjoyed this story.  The story was fascinating and the characters were enjoyable to read about. I would recommend this to Torchwood and Doctor Who fans.

Shada by Gareth Roberts

Shada by Gareth Roberts - 383 pages

From the unique mind of Douglas Adams, the legendary "lost" Doctor Who story has been completed at last by Gareth Roberts and narrated by Lalla Ward.

The Doctor’s old friend and fellow Time Lord Professor Chronotis has retired to Cambridge University—where nobody will notice if he lives for centuries. But now he needs help from the Doctor, Romana and K-9. When he left Gallifrey he took with him a few little souvenirs—most of them are harmless. But one of them is extremely dangerous.

The Worshipful and Ancient Law of Gallifrey isn’t a book for Time Tots. It is one of the Artifacts, dating from the dark days of Rassilon. It must not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. The sinister Skagra most definitely has the wrong hands. He wants the book. He wants to discover the truth behind Shada. And he wants the Doctor’s mind...

Based on the scripts for the original television series by the legendary Douglas Adams, Shada retells an adventure that never made it to the screen.

Doctor Who:  Dark Horizons by Jenny Colgan - 320 pages

"Now, you may or may not have noticed, but we appear to be on fire..."

On a windswept northern shore, at the very tip of what will one day become Scotland, the islanders believe the worst they have to fear is a Viking attack. Then the burning comes. They cannot run from it. Water will not stop it. It consumes everything in its path - yet the burned still speak.

It was nice to read about a companion that we haven't seen before and she was pretty awesome.  The Tenth Doctor was, as always, beloved.  For fans of both Doctor Who and Science Fiction.  I'd give it 5 stars!
