The story is told through Elles diary. The year is 1975. She is raising her son alone after her husband was killed in Vietnam. A mysterious army man arrives in town and through a series of events the two collide and lives are changes.
Though a little sappy at times, his books are always a sweet, easy read. I enjoyed it.
