The Opposite of Innocent by Sonya Sones, 260 pages
Sonya Sones writes most of her books in prose, but this one was a little different. I had no idea what this book was about until I read it. Lily is a fourteen year old girl who thinks she is in love with Nick, a 29 year old living with her family. But, when Lily starts a relationship with the young man, he wants to take it much further. But when Lily tries to stop him, he blackmails her into going all the way. With the #metoomovement, will she realize it is not her fault. Very helpful resources in the back of the book.

Saving Red by Sonya Sones
Saving Red by Sonya Sones, 440 pages
Molly is a fifteen year old trying to cope with the recent "loss" of her brother (who is suffering from PTSD) and some heavy drama in her life involving the guilt she feels. While dealing with her own pain, Molly befriends a local mentally ill runaway affectionately nicknamed "Red". Along with her therapy dog, Pixel, and a boy, Cristo, she meets out on her adventures, Molly tries to help Red and to get her to contact home before the Christmas holidays. Written entirely in verse, Sonya Sones writes an extremely heartfelt story that surprisingly has a happy ending.

To Be Perfectly Honest: A Novel Based On An Untrue Story by Sonya Sones
To Be Perfectly Honest: A Novel Based On An Untrue Story by Sonya Sones, 480 pages
I love Sonya Sones' books. Her books are written in prose form. Sonya captivates your interest with her characters. Her books read more like nonfiction than fiction. This book is written entirely from the prospective of 15 year old Colette. Colette is a compulsive liar who meets her match in a motorcycle riding young man named Connor. Colette is stuck spending her summer in a hotel in San Luis Obispo, CA babysitting her younger brother, Will while her famous mother, Marissa Shawn, films a movie. Colette's world is turned upside down when she meets and falls for Connor. This is a roller coaster of a story. It was a delightful, quick fun read!
