Food Fight! A Mouthwatering History of Who Ate What and Why Through the Ages by Tanya Steel

Food Fight! A Mouthwatering History of Who Ate What and Why Through the Ages by Tanya Steel - 160 pages

I read this book in preparation for a homeschool class I'm teaching.  I found it interesting.  It gave a lot of information on common foods, table etiquette, cooking, and more for different periods throughout history.  It included a lot of trivia that I had not previously known.  This would be a good book for kids interested in food and cooking.

Great American Eating Experiences by National Geographic

Great American Eating Experiences by National Geographic Society - 286 pages

This book goes through state-by-state and lists the "local favorites" of food.  It gives information on what the food is, the history of the food, local festivals, and what they consider the best places to find the food.
It was an interesting book to read.  I was amazed that I had actually eaten at several of the restaurants listed for other states I had visited.

Ye Olde Weird But True: 300 Outrageous Facts From History by Cheryl Harness

Ye Olde Weird But True: 300 Outrageous Facts From History by Cheryl Harness, 207 pages

This book is put out by National Geographic and was extremely fascinating.  Spider webs were once used as band aids.  There were no dinner plates in medieval times, so stale bread was used as plates. Ancient Greeks believed lettuce juice helped you sleep, and there are 3 million ships that lie on the ocean floor. These are just some of the facts you will find in this colorful book!
