The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot

The Boy Is Back (Boy, #4) The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot, 368 pages

In this brand new stand alone novel for adult readers, a scandal brings celebrity golfer Reed back home to the small town, the crazy family, and first love he once left behind. Reed Stewart thought he'd left all his small-town troubles-including a broken heart-behind when he ditched tiny Bloomville, Indiana, a decade ago to get rich on the pro golf circuit. Then one tiny post on the Internet causes all of those troubles to return with a vengeance.

Becky Flowers loves her small-town life, her small-town business, and especially the small-town wedding she's planning. She hasn't thought about her no good high school ex,Reed Stewart, in years. Until suddenly-thanks to a news story that goes viral on every gossip site on the Internet-Reed comes bursting back into her lifelike an Indiana summer twister.

Now everything Becky and Reed thought they knew about themselves (and one another) has been turned upside down, and they - and possibly the entire town of Bloomville - will never be the same, all because: The Boy is Back.

Told completely in e-mails, text messages, and journal entries like The Boy Next Door and Boy Meets Girl, The Boy Is Back is guaranteed to entertain readers while at the same time reminding them of the true meaning of the words "family values."

**I really enjoyed reading this non-traditional format of emails, texts, and journal entries. Made for a super fast read and was a really good book!

Old ghosts as well as new ones are coming out of the woodwork, some to test her, some to vex her, and it isn't only because she's a mediator, gifted with second sight.

Suze is used to striking first and asking questions later. But what happens when ghosts from her past - including one she found nearly impossible to resist - strike first?
What happens when old ghosts come back to haunt you?
If you're a mediator, you might have to kick a little ass.

Jess finally had no choice but to embrace her new-found talent, and ended up lending her skills to the U.S. government.

But her work for them has taken a terrible toll, and Jess resurfaces months later a shadow of her former self, her powers gone, Lightning Girl no more. Her only hope is starting over in a new place, a big city where nobody knows her. It's only when Rob Wilkins unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep that she's forced to face her past. Rob, all the way from back home, needs her help. But how can Jess, her powers gone, find anyone, let alone the sister of a man she once loved . . . when she can't even find herself?

Jessica Mastriana knew she wasn't going to be able to hide her psychic powers from the US government forever - but she never thought that she'd actually have something in common with one of their agents! - especially if that agent is Dr Cyrus Krantz who had previously been brought in to 'convince' Jess to join his elite team of 'specially gifted' crime-solvers - after all they were only interested in utilizing her special skills for their own devices weren't they? But when a local boy's disappearance and untimely death is attributed to a backwoods militia group, Jess' goal - to find another missing local child - and Dr Krantz's - to stop a group of madmen before they kill again - turn out to be one and the same...

Code Name Cassandra by Jenny Carroll (Meg Cabot)

Code Name Cassandra by Jenny Carroll (Meg Cabot)  264 pages

The 'Lightning Girl' has lost her powers! Or at least that's what Jess would like the media and the government to think. All Jess wants is to be left alone - well except by Rob, the hottest senior in detention. But it doesn't look like Jess is going to get her wish - especially not while she's stuck working at a summer camp for musically gifted kids who are more than interested in their counselor's psychic abilities. When the father of a missing girl shows up begging her to find his daughter Jess knows that she can't refuse. But now the feds are on her trail again, as well as one very angry step-dad, who'd like to see Lightning Girl... dead.

When Lightning Strikes by Jenny Carroll (Meg Cabot)

When Lightning Strikes by Jenny Carroll (Meg Cabot)  266 pages

When lightning strikes there can only be trouble - as Jessica Mastriani finds out when she and best friend Ruth get caught in a thunderstorm. Not that Jess has ever really avoided trouble before. Instead of cheerleading there are fistfights with the football team and month-long stints in detention - not that detention doesn't have its good points - like sitting next to Rob - the cutest senior around! But this is trouble with a capital T - this trouble is serious. Because somehow, on that long walk home in the thunderstorm, Jess acquired a newfound talent. An amazing power that can be used for good...or for evil.

Awaken by Meg Cabot

Awaken by Meg Cabot- 343 pgs.

Pierce Oliviera has been chosen by John Hayden, AKA Sorter of the Dead in the Underworld, to be his consort.  She has given up her normal life to live in the Underworld with John.  It's not smooth sailing, though.  The Furies are not happy that a human is living with the dead and they won't stop until they have taken out Pierce.  It's up to Pierce and John to defeat the Furies and save their relationship.

This is the final book in the Abandon trilogy, which was a take on on the Hades/Persephone myth.  The series started out strong, but ended on kind of a low point.  It felt like it took a long time to get to the climax and, even then, it was kind of a let down.  It had a lot of promise, but failed to deliver.
