Wade Wilson: Deadpool #5-6 by Benjamin Percy

Wade Wilson: Deadpool #5-6 by Benjamin Percy-32 pages each, 64 total

⭐⭐⭐⭐

STARING DEATH IN THE FACE! HAMMERHEAD has DEADPOOL'S book of omens. But with BLIND AL in the crosshairs, will WADE sacrifice his life for hers? The secret from issue #1 revealed!

BADPOOLS! Who's that knockin' at the door? Sounds like Wade. SMELLS like Wade. But it's not Wade...OR IS IT?! The BADPOOLS enter the scene, and DEADPOOL's life will never be the same!

Thoughts: I continue to like reading through this series. I am all caught up so far. Deadpool is as irreverent as ever! Blind Al helps Deadpool survive Hammerhead and then a "Badpool" shows up at their door to confront Deadpool. It turns out all those limbs and body parts Deadpool has lost (and then regenerated new ones) have become sentient and are after him. Will he survive? I'll have to continue reading the following issue(s) to find out.

Marvel/DC: Spider-Man/Superman #1 by Brad Meltzer, et al.-72 pages

⭐⭐⭐⭐

THWIP, THWIP AND AWAY! Fifty years ago, DC's Man of Steel met Marvel's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, and the world of comics has never been the same! In celebration of that historic milestone, thrill to ALL-NEW tales of Spider-Man and Superman and their friends and foes!

Brad Meltzer and Pepe Larraz pit Spider-Man and Superman against Lex Luthor and Norman Osborn as their greatest villains exploit some of their greatest weaknesses!
In the shadow-laden 1930s, Spider-Man Noir encounters the original Golden Age Superman as told by Slott/Martin!
A crisis ensues as Johns/Frank bring the Super- and Spider-families against each together at the summons of Mysterio... but is their true foe an ally out of control?!
Symbiote hordes invade Metropolis as a new War of the Realms ignites in Aaron/Dauterman's epic.
Co-creator of Steel Louise Simonson hammers out the tale of John Henry Irons' clash with the Hobgoblin, as drawn by Todd Nauck!
Kelly/Ramos take us on a campus crossover between Gwen Stacy and Lana Lang!
Miles Morales (Spider-Man) teams with Superman, as Bendis and Pichelli re-team!
All this, and more than a few super-surprises you'll be talking about for the next fifty years!

Thoughts: I enjoyed reading this collection of short stories/comics from Marvel and DC. There are more superheroes and supervillains than just Spider-Man and Superman. Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Ghost Spider, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Jane Foster Thor, and so many more make a brief appearance.

Wade Wilson: Deadpool #3 & #4 by Benjamin Percy

Wade Wilson: Deadpool #3 & #4 by Benjamin Percy-32 pages each, 64 pages total

⭐⭐⭐⭐

ONLY SMILING ON THE OUTSIDE! WADE WILSON is down, and fate (and the gangsters he’s gotten wrapped up with) keep kicking! He’s smiling on the outside, but what tragic fate has befallen DEADPOOL? Witness the gut-wrenching horror Wade has endured…even as he walks into a deadly murder in Central Park that will change the course of his life!

MOB LIFE! The gangster HAMMERHEAD has cottoned on to DEADPOOL's secret. But WADE can't be bought… No wait, that's not right. Wade can totally be bought. That's his whole deal as a mercenary… OH, Hammerhead has the 'Pool by the floats, that's what it is, and whatever choice he makes, someone close to him will wind up DEAD!

Thoughts: I liked both of these issues/volumes and I look forward to continuing this series. I enjoy Deadpool's irreverence and sarcasm.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

NO MORE CLOWNING AROUND! A deadly subway caper shows DEADPOOL the The secret message he received was right! And with intel on crimes before they are committed, Wade Wilson has no choice but to do the right exploit his insider knowledge for PROFIT and COLD HARD CASH! Merc's gotta merc! But can he outrun the horrible pain of his tragic mistake, or is this all setting Wade up for the worst fall of his life?

Thoughts: This is a fun, short read from a new series about Deadpool. I've seen all the Deadpool movies, so I thought I might enjoy this and I was right.

Ant-Man: World Hive by Zeb Wells

Ant-Man: World Hive by Zeb Wells-120 pages

Ant-Man is living in an ant hill in Florida so he can be close to his daughter, Cassie (aka Stinger). He doesn't have the means to live anywhere else close to her. They go on patrols together. He gets a job offer to locate some missing bees and bring them back. However, he gets entangled in more than he can handle alone. Swarm is trying to gather the bees to him and take on other powerful villains, including Macrothrax. Ant-Man must fight Macrothrax and his bug minions, Vespa, Thread, and Tusk. He gets a little aid from The Avengers and Spider-Man. I picked this up because Ant-Man works with his daughter and I thought I would enjoy it. I did enjoy it, but not nearly as much as I've enjoyed the movies.

Black Widow by Kelly Thompson, Vol. 2: I am the Black Widow

Black Widow by Kelly Thompson, Vol. 2: I am the Black Widow-112 pages

Natasha is reeling from the events of volume 1, but must move on to deal with a new threat, Apogee. He is a cult leader who is giving his followers a serum with powers. However, the powers may be killing them if they use them too much. Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), White Widow (Yelena Belova), and Spider-Girl (Anya) all join Black Widow to try and stop Apogee. I enjoyed reading this second volume and look forward to reading a third volume when it releases.

Black Widow by Kelly Thompson, Vol. 1: The Ties That Bind

Black Widow by Kelly Thompson, Vol. 1: The Ties That Bind-112 pages

I enjoy almost anything Marvel and Black Widow is no exception. This is the beginning of a new story arc for Black Widow. She falls into a trap of happiness and peace set by a group of villains intent on taking her out of the picture. Can she get out of the trap? Will Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, and Yelena be able to help her? I enjoyed reading this first volume and look forward to reading the second.

Ms. Marvel: Something New (Ms. Marvel #9-10) by G. Willow Wilson

Ms. Marvel: Something New (Ms. Marvel #9-10) by G. Willow Wilson-248 pages

I previously read a few volumes of G. Willow Wilson's Ms. Marvel and really enjoyed it. With a show on Disney Plus about Ms. Marvel reportedly releasing sometime this year, I was interested in reading more of her story. Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) learns more about herself and what she really wants. She also learns more about how her powers work. Old and new friends and foes appear in this collection. I really enjoyed reading this as well and I look forward to watching the TV series when it releases.

Scarlet Witch, Vol. 1: Witches' Road by James Robinson, et al.

Scarlet Witch, Vol. 1: Witches' Road by James Robinson, et al.-112 pages

Scarlet Witch feels something wrong within magic/witchcraft. She's not sure what it is or who is causing it, but she feels it nonetheless. Her travels to face off against villains and find answers take her across the globe. I enjoyed reading this, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed the Disney Plus series "WandaVision."
