Owlflight by Mercedes Lackey

Owlflight by Mercedes Lackey & Larry Dixon - 342 pages

Darian isn't happy to be apprenticed to the mage after his parents disappear.  While his master Justyn is kind, Darian isn't interested in magic.  He wants to be a trapper like his parents were.  He loves the forest and would spend all his time there.  Which is what saves him when bandits from the north invade his village.  He was in the forest and manages to escape to the Hawkbrothers.

This is the first book of a trilogy in one of Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series.  I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the rest of them.

Manners Can Be Fun by Munro Leaf  (48 pages)

Teaches children that having good manners, at home, at play, and visiting, is both respectful and kind to themselves and others. When we have good manners people enjoy being around us. Obviously none of the information in this book is new but it does show by silly illustrations and descriptions the type of behavior not to display.

Home by Ellen DeGeneres

Home by Ellen DeGeneres, 304 pages

Home contains some beautiful pictures of Ellen's current homes as well as some of her past homes.  Accompanying the photography is descriptions as well as background of the homes she has lived in over the past 20 years, through her very successful career in television.  Although, I was a little confused how she had pictures of her previous homes. She must have been planning this book for a while to have photographs of her previous homes decorated. She also has included some of her favorite friends and designers homes as well.   I guess Ellen has always had a secret passion for decorating.
