Surge (Stone Braide Chronicles #2.5) by Bonnie S. Calhoun-41 pages
This is an ebook only that takes place between books 2 and 3 of the Stone Braide Chronicles by Bonnie S. Calhoun. It provides a bit of story and background to set up the third and final book in the series. Overall, it is a pretty good read and I am enjoying the series more as I get closer to the end. The first book was a bit slow but each book since has been gradually building to a more interesting, fast-paced read.

Lightning (Stone Braide Chronicles #2) by Bonnie S. Calhoun
Lightning (Stone Braide Chronicles #2) by Bonnie S. Calhoun-411 pages
I started reading this for last month's one word title challenge but did not finish it in time. I read the first book in this trilogy a few months ago and bought the next two when they came out. I enjoyed this book, just like the first, though it is not as good as the Divergent series or the Hunger Games series. The depth of character and story isn't quite as good in my opinion, but it is still enjoyable, overall (especially the second half of this book). I will read the last in between short story and the last novel in the trilogy at some point, but next it's on to historical fiction.

Aftershock by Bonnie S. Calhoun
Aftershock by Bonnie S. Calhoun-41 pages
This is the story between the first book, Thunder, and the second book, Lightning, in the Stone Braide Chronicles trilogy/series. It follows Selah, her friends, and her father, Glade and their journey North after fleeing the Mountain and freeing the Landers. It is a decent read and good enough for me to continue reading the series.

I enjoyed reading this book, although it is another in the genre of teen dystopian fiction with a couple of new twists. The writing was okay, but a bit too fan-fictionish for me. The story follows a woman named Selah who just had her 18th Remembrance and must flee from her stepfather and family North to find her real father. She meets a young girl with no family and other Landers along the way to finding her father and freeing him. Overall, it is an okay read and I would recommend it if you enjoy reading Dystopian fiction.
