The Maid, Nita Prose | 289 pages
Read for book club.
Molly is a maid; while not specifically diagnosed as such, she's clearly written to be neurodiverse. She both notices much and misses much, especially about people/relationships, which leads to a complicated mess when a guest is murdered at the hotel. It's entertaining and well-paced for this type of book, but I just don't buy it - "it" being Molly's character and decisions. Her rigid rule following is heavily played up, except then she's inconsistent, going against really big important rules. Her truth telling is emphasized, except for when you find that it isn't. All the side characters are undeveloped and predictable.
I think it'll lead to a great conversation, and I did enjoy it, hence half stars. But I'm in no hurry to continue the series.
