The Branson Beauty by Claire Booth – 310 p.
Hank Worth, the new sheriff of Branson County, Missouri, has his work cut out for him when old showboat The Branson Beauty runs ashore at Table Rock Lake, stranding a flock of tourists out for a winter excursion. The case gets really serious when a popular young local woman is discovered dead, strangled as it turns out. This debut features well-drawn characters, witty observations, and the mystery is mildly entertaining. I would have enjoyed more local Ozarks color, but may try another entry in the series to see if that aspect improves.
