The Starter Wife

The Starter Wife by Nina Laurin
310 pgs

"He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not". This is the phrase that comes into mind when reading this book.

Claire is married to Byron who is a college professor. Their marriage is falling apart and Claire is determined to find out why. Meanwhile, Claire and Byron live a life that revolves around Byron's first wife Colleen that committed "suicide". They live in her house surrounded by her things and beautiful paintings and live off her money.

This book has two narrators - Claire the wife and a student that seems a little more then obsessed with Byron.

I really enjoyed this book and felt like I had it all figured out when I didn't. It gave off The Wives vibe which not everything is as it seems.
