A hurricane changes courses and is heading for Camino Island. The governor orders an evacuation but Bruce Cable decides to stay and ride the storm out. The hurricane is devastating and claims many lives. One is Bruce's friend and author of thriller novels, Nelson Kerr. Nelson's injuries do appear to be suspicious suggesting possible murder but the police are so busy with the aftermath of the storm that they aren't fully capable of handling the case. Bruce wonders who would want Nelson dead? Perhaps his fictional characters in his thriller novels aren't so fictional after all. As Bruce begins to search, he finds more shocking plot twists in real life than in Nelson's fiction.
