Margaret Lousbury works in her grandmother's millinery shop and looks after her younger sister Violet after her parents died in an accident on the lake?
Nate is Maggie's estranged childhood friend and son of a wealthy inventor and industrialist who returns home after his father's death. When he takes over his father's engineering company, he also takes on the old debt he was repaying to the Lousbury family. However, after so many years away Maggie isn't sure she can trust Nate.
