I heard about this book on a morning news program. I had never read one of Colson's books before, but I had heard good reviews of his previous books. The Nickel Boys is based on what happened at the Dozie School for Boys in the panhandle of Florida in the 1960s. The story follows Elwood Curtis to Nickel Academy and how he and others endure abuse beyond belief. This was truly a very sad sad story.
