Shadowed Souls edited by Jim Butcher and Kerrie L. Hughes --- 338 pages
This anthology of urban fantasy short stories focuses on that grey area between good and evil where so many practitioners of magic powers sooner or later find themselves staring into the abyss.
Eleven stories by eleven contemporary urban fantasy authors are featured here, including Butcher's own "Cold Case," a spin off from his popular Dresden Files with Molly Carpenter undertaking her first task as the new Lady of the Winter Court of the Fey. Of the rest of the stories here, my other favorite was Kristine Kathryn Rusch's "Sales. Force," which I found myself re-reading several times. Fans of the genre will enjoy these tales, and perhaps find a new author or two to add to their list.
