Star Wars: Bloodline by Claudia Gray
352 pages
This book takes place six years prior to the events in the film "The Force Awakens" and gives background to the fall of the New Republic and the rise of the First Order.
Princess Leia is growing more and more frustrated with the inability of the Senate to achieve consensus and to provide positive change for the peoples of the galaxy. When a suspected criminal conspiracy comes to light she seizes the chance to be an active player again to try and get to the bottom of things.
I enjoyed seeing the characters through the new lens of the movie as opposed to no longer canon book series to gain a better understanding of the relationships. This book was much better than the Aftermath books that are also part of the new canon.
