Kare First Love v.1 by Kaho Miyasaka – 200 pages
“Four-eyed” pushover Kirin meets bad boy Kiriya through a
misunderstanding on the train on the way to school. After a series of teenage hangouts, Kirin
experiences her first kiss, and learns who she thought was a jerk on the train
is a hard-working, caring guy with a shared interest in photography. Kirin has a hard time accepting her own
interest in him and difficulty trying to stand up for herself against false
friends. The wallflower ditches her
glasses for contacts, and though she has a romantic rival in a shallow classmate,
teen romance begins to blossom. While
the story sounds familiar, I rooted for Kirin to learn to be assertive, and
find happiness. I will definitely read
the next book in the series.
