Get Backers v.1 by Rando Ayamine and Yuya Aoki – 200 pages
Ginji Amano and Ban Mido get back what shouldn’t be gone, using
their powers of electrical conduction and an evil eye, with an (almost) 100
percent success rate! Down on their
luck, they accept a job to recover the daughter of a homeless man from a yakuza
mansion, but get more when they bargained for when the girl isn’t exactly happy
to leave, and a band of armed goons shares her opinion. In their next adventure, they’re offered a
million yen to retrieve a giant lucky cat statue from a high-rise office. What they don’t know is the cat is merely a
hiding spot for a stolen computer disk.
Get Backers offers plenty of mayhem, hijinks, and freewheeling humor. Some panels are small and hard to read, and
the overall look is smudgy, leading me to wonder if it was originally published
in a larger format.
