The Diamond of Darkhold by Jeanne Duprau -- 304 pages
This is the fourth book of the series "The City of Ember," and it picks up where the second one left off. Lina and Doon and the people of Ember are settling in with the people of Sparks, but the one thing that is missing is electricity, and without it life is rough and difficult.
When Lina and Doon find an old book with snatches of a message on it, they believe that it must be important. Together they decipher and discover what the Builders of the City of Ember meant for them to find, and what will help them survive and thrive in this new strange world.
This book carries the same feel and style as the first two and I enjoyed it a lot.
