Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen

Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen - 48 pages

I decided to read this book after a recommendation.  A lion decides to visit the library and look around, then after a nap, joins in on story time.  However, he did not like it when story time ended.  But he calmed down when it was said he could return for the next day's story time.  He came early the next day and assisted Miss Merriweather, the librarian, doing her daily tasks.  He decided to do this each day and became a feature.  Then one day a disaster strikes and the lion saves the day, but Mr. McBee, another librarian, gets mad for the lion breaking the rules to do so.  This causes the lion to quit coming and everyone misses him.  Will he come back?

I thought this was a cute story.  In a change from resent books, this one from 2006 features illustrations that more closely resemble those found in older books, like the Dick and Jane ones.  I think that only added to its timeless appeal.
