In this book, Amelia Bedelia's class visits the town library.  After a tour, each student is allowed to check out one book.  Unfortunately, Amelia Bedelia left hers outside in the rain and must learn the consequences.

I thought this book provided a good tour of how a library works which would help children understand the role the staff plays.  Also, since it shows the consequence of what happens when a book becomes waterlogged, children can understand why they should take good care of their books.
