Takedown Twenty: A Stephanie Plum Novel by Janet Evanovich --- 307 pages

Novel #20 in Evanovich's best-selling series about New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum starts with Stephanie broke (as usual) and caught between the two hot men in her life, police detective former bad boy Joe Morelli, and security agent mystery man Ranger.

Stephanie's been assigned to track down Trenton's favorite mobster "Uncle Sunny" Sunucchi. Even though he skipped bail on a murder charge, nobody wants to turn in good old Uncle Sunny. To make matters even more complicated for Stephanie, Uncle Sunny is family to Joe Morelli, his Grandma Bella's favorite nephew and Joe's godfather. Every time Stephanie turns around, Grandma Bella is threatening her with the evil eye curse.

Stephanie's also allowed Ranger to talk her into lending a hand investigating a series of murders: someone is sweet talking elderly ladies who wind up strangled with Venetian blind cord and dumped in dumpsters. Stephanie is worried that her Grandma Mazur could be the next victim. Before she knows it, Stephanie and Grandma are working undercover at the bingo halls and the senior center, trying to track down a killer.

And by the way, why is an eighteen-foot-tall giraffe named Kevin wandering the mean streets of Trenton and not one person is saying anything about it? If you like your mayhem manic, Stephanie's your girl!
