Omens by Kelley Armstrong - 496 pages
This book begins the new Cainsville series. I enjoyed the author's now concluded Otherworld series and was very pleased with this new direction.
Olivia Taylor Jones has an idyllic life in Chicago until she discovers it was all built on a lie about her true heritage. Jones retreats to the isolated town of Cainsville through a serious of semi-supernatural interventions to begin a new life in the place she was perhaps meant to be in all along. Armstrong does a good job of throwing you into the middle of the action and revealing relationships and backstory as you go. This is urban fantasy with lots of suspenseful action and intriguing characters.
