Soulless by Gail Carriger, 384 pages
(book 1 of The Parasol Protectorate series)
Well written and entirely entertaining are the best way to describe this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of a person being born soulless and able to "neutralize" all the supernaturals (werewolves, vampires, ghosts, fey, etc.). I laughed my way through the book from beginning (where she kills a vampire with her parasol) to end ... even on the parts that weren't suppose to be funny. The love connection/storyline between the main character and a supernatural was well done. I already have the rest of the series on my "must read" list. Romance, danger, comedy, fantasy ... you name it, this book has it.
