People of the Book, by Geraldine Brooks, 372 pages
Hannah Heath is an Australian book conservator who has been asked to evaluate the recently re-discovered Sarajevo Haggadah, a centuries-old Jewish book with a story of its own. The People of the Book is a story of just that- the people who created the book, those who saved it in times of war, those who brought it harm, and even that of Hannah Heath, who is facing personal issues of her own while investigating the book. The book really becomes the main character, and fans of book conservation would probably really enjoy this.
