The Chronicles of Downton Abbey by Jessica Fellowes & Matthew Sturgis

The Chronicles of Downton Abbey by Jessica Fellowes & Matthew Sturgis, 320 pages

I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of the television series Downton Abbey.  The book is full of colorful pictures and insight into the show and cast.
This book came out around the time Season 3 premiered in the United States.  I have watched all the seasons, and it had been a while since I had seen the show.  The book was a nice refresher. The author writes many details of the characters and refers to how the show has to make the characters historically accurate to that time in history.  Everything down to the last detail is made historically accurate including ingredients used in cooking and newspapers that are being read at the breakfast table.  It was fascinating how detailed the set designers have to be.  The book details how the upstairs scenes are filmed on location at Highclere Castle and the downstairs scenes are filmed in a darker environment in a studio in London.  The pictures behind the scenes show how the actors film scenes for the summer outside of the castle and how it is really freezing cold.  It was neat to see pictures of the actual scenes being filmed.  Just for the historical accuracy, this book was worth checking out!
