The Problem with the Puddles by Kate Feiffer, 195 pages
This book is better left on the shelf. It has only checked out 9 times from the Arnold Library within the last 4 years... for very good reason. The book is filled with nonsense, potty humor and is just plain silly (and not in a good way). My child lost interest within the first few chapters. The Puddles are a family of four with two dogs named Sally (a chihuahua and a Great Dane). Mr. & Mrs. Puddles live to disagree with one another since the day their daughter was born. Because the parents argue all the time, the two Sally's are accidentally left behind when the Puddles leave their country home for their city home. Once they realize their dogs were inadvertently left behind, another argument ensues-- thus causing them to end up stranded on the road, stuck in a hoarder's home and tossed into the limelight. In the midst of all this chaos, the Puddles' daughter, Emily/Ferdinanda/Baby (yes, she has three different first names), tries to figure out a way to get her parents to stop fighting and find her dogs. In the meantime, the dogs have their own adventure of swimming in a lake, getting dog-napped and being sprayed by a large number of skunks before being reunited with their family.
