Notorious Nineteen: A Stephanie Plum Novel by Janet Evanovich --- 302 pages
Stephanie is back, and after two somewhat ho-hum books that made me wonder if Evanovich's series was finally running out of gas, this latest effort is back on pace.
Stephanie's broke (as usual) and needs to land some big skips to catch up on her rent. Tracking down the accountant accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the residents of an assisted living center, who disappeared from his hospital bed in the middle of the night after an emergency appendectomy, could put her back in the money.
Unfortunately, even with the unwilling help of the little guy who heads up security at the hospital, Stephanie can't find a single clue to lead her to Geoffrey Cubbin. Things only get worse when more people turn up missing from the same hospital in the same way.
Meanwhile, Stephanie's also agreed to provide back up for Ranger, who's getting really spooky vibes from a guy he used to know when he was part of an elite Special Forces team back in the bad old days that Ranger never talks about. Although when she agreed to help, Stephanie wasn't told that the job would involve wearing the Bridemaid's Dress from Hell.
